TunnelQuiz vs Codility: engineering work samples, or a proctored screen for everyone else.

Codility tests engineers. Its tasks run the candidate's code, Scale lets you build custom tasks from your own codebase, and its integrity checks look for pasted code and copied task text, with detection of retyped AI code in preview. TunnelQuiz is an AI-powered assessment platform whose proctored tests take multiple-choice, written and coding questions, and it doesn't run code yet. The two meet at one point: the shortlist. TunnelQuiz is the cheaper way to cut a large applicant pool down before Codility's per-invite pricing starts to bite.

Three things that are different

Codility is the engineering tool

Codility's tasks are graded by running the candidate's code, Scale lets you build custom tasks from your own codebase, and its Custom plan adds video proctoring, ID verification and a desktop app, in preview, that flags apps hidden from screen capture. TunnelQuiz grades coding answers with AI on Pro and does not run them; running code against test cases is coming soon. For senior engineering roles, Codility is the right tool.

No annual-only entry plan

Codility's Starter plan is $1,200 a year, annual billing only, for up to 120 invites and one platform user. Scale is $6,000 a year for 300 invites, used at most 25 a month. TunnelQuiz has a free plan with 50 credits a month, and Essential is $34 a month billed yearly for 150 credits a month, or month to month if you'd rather not commit.

Sign up and send a test today

Codility's pricing FAQ says free trials run through its team rather than as a self-serve signup, scoped to your roles and volume on a call. TunnelQuiz has no sales step: create an account, write or import the questions, set the proctoring and share the link.

Why teams choose TunnelQuiz

Why teams choose TunnelQuiz over Codility

Reason 01

Spend invites where they count

Codility's Scale plan caps use at 25 invites a month. Run the wide first round on TunnelQuiz, where a credit is one candidate sitting, and you can save those invites for the candidates who reach the coding round.

Codility Scale
Up to 25 invites

300 a year, at most 25 in any month

TunnelQuiz Essential

Reason 02

Evidence for every kind of question

Codility's integrity signals are built around code: paste events, code evolution, similarity. TunnelQuiz watches the test session for any question type. It captures the whole screen every minute, logs every tab switch with time away, flags a second display, and from Essential takes webcam snapshots and flags AI browser extensions.

Reason 03

One price for the whole team

Codility's Starter plan has one platform user who can build tests, with unlimited reviewers alongside. TunnelQuiz's Essential plan has 5 seats and Pro has 20, and every seat can write questions and set up tests.

Frequently asked questions

Is TunnelQuiz a Codility alternative?

For screening that isn't code, yes: aptitude, fundamentals, language and domain knowledge, asked as multiple-choice or written questions under proctoring. For the coding assessment itself, not yet. Codility runs and scores code, and TunnelQuiz grades coding answers with AI without running them.

How much does Codility cost?

As of October 2026, Codility's pricing page lists Starter at $1,200 a year, annual billing only, with up to 120 invite credits a year and one platform user, and Scale at $6,000 a year with up to 300 invites (at most 25 a month) and three platform users. Scale can also be paid monthly, and Codility says annual billing gives two months free. Custom plans are quoted. Free trials are arranged through Codility's team.

How much does TunnelQuiz cost?

As of October 2026, TunnelQuiz has four plans: Free ($0, 50 credits a month that lapse at month end), Essential ($34 a month billed yearly, 150 credits a month, 5 seats), Pro ($87 a month billed yearly, 250 credits and 10 AI credits a month, 20 seats) and Business (quoted). Monthly billing is also available. Prices are in US dollars with no tax added. In India the same plans are ₹1,319 and ₹3,519 a month billed yearly, plus 18% GST.

Does Codility record the candidate's webcam and screen?

On its Starter and Scale plans Codility lists proctoring with candidate snapshots. Periodic webcam and screen snapshots, full webcam, screen and audio recording, and government ID verification are Premium features of its Custom plan. TunnelQuiz captures the whole screen every minute on every plan, with webcam snapshots from Essential.

Which is better for hiring engineers?

Codility. Its tasks run real code, its library is built for engineering roles, and its integrity checks are built around code: paste events, code history and similarity between candidates. TunnelQuiz is useful earlier in the funnel, to filter a large pool on aptitude and fundamentals before you spend Codility invites.
